One of the purposes of metaphysics is to explore possibilities, like what the world could have been like if things were different. Metaphysics develops ideas about what the world could be like today, if certain things did not exist and others did.
This exploration of possibility can lead to future development and change, for people, places and things.
For example, what if the world was never in drought, what would flourish, what new species would evolve and how.
If there was no such thing aw identity of self and everyone saw themselves as a part of one being, how would this affect relations, decisions and prosperity.
What if cultural values shifted and unified, would war exist, or would there be other reasons for conflict?
Through exploring possibilities and theories of existence as we know it, questioning some fundamentals of society, solutions can arise.
